While I was in Sydney, I was lucky to see a special exhibit by sculptor Anish Kapoor at the Museum of Contemporary Art. I hesitated to pay the extra $20 Australian to see the exhibit, but after browsing the rest of the museum, I decided to go ahead. After all, I was very taken with "The Bean" in Chicago. Wow! Was I glad I saw this. Fascinating! And inspiring! One of the highlights of my Sydney visit.

Sydney's Museums
One of the great things about Sydney is the art. My hotel was convenienently located within walking distance of the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Sydney Museum, the Australian Museum, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and lots of galleries in the business district and on Circular Quay. Here are some pieces that caught my eye.

Edge of the Trees, installation by Janet Laurence and Fiona Foley (1995).
Art Gallery of New South Wales
The Art Gallery of New South Wales has a great collection of aboriginal art as well as other modern Australian artists.
