A Little Bit of Knitting

I've been doing just a little bit of knitting lately.  (Making purses seems to be taking most of my time.)  Here are the socks I've finished in the last couple of months.

First are Victory Socks from the Wendy Johnson book.  They are made of Malabrigo sock yarn in 850 Archangel.

These socks are also Malabrigo sock, 870 Candombe.  These are knit referencing a pattern I found on knitty.com.  It's called Spring Forward, by Linda Welch.  The pattern is written for a cuff-down sock.  I made these toe up using a generic sock pattern, then used the chart for the design (upside down) from the Linda Welch pattern.  I love these socks!  The pattern is simple and quick.

So right away, I had to make another pair, this time using 859 Primavera.  I might make another pair before I get out of the mood.  This pattern is quick and fun.

The Socks Saga Continues

Socks knit with self-striping yarn.  Plain foot, ribbed leg, no pattern.

Since my one and only post about knitting last April, I've continued on my sock adventure.  I've finished the socks shown here, plus three more pairs that I don't have good photos of.  I don't even wear socks very often. I could be spending all this time quilting. Yes, but I really do enjoy knitting.  It's my relaxation time, so I continue. Socks are small projects that can be completed relatively quickly in knitting-time, are easy to transport, and are relatively inexpensive. I have 5 pairs in various stages at this moment.  Yikes!  All of the socks shown here were knit two at a time, toe up, on two circular needles.

Knitting Socks

Lately I am obsessed with knitting socks.  I can't stop buying sock yarn. Yet another thing to collect!  I have enough yarn to knit socks for the next 4 years.  This is the 10th pair of socks that I've finished.  They were knit from the toe up with a free pattern by Wendy Johnson, Sprucy Lucy.  The pattern is great, but with this tweed-y sock yarn it doesn't show up enough for all the effort .  I'm a relatively new knitter, so this is one of the things I'm learning - how to pick the right yarn for the pattern and visa versa. I love the yarn though.  It's Zauberball.  Watching the colors change makes the knitting more interesting.  There are no repeats in the order of the colors, that I can tell, so each sock comes out different.  I like that!
