We've been busy! A shipment of 19 quilts began its journey to Panajachel yesterday. Here are the latest of the bunch. The top three are from Pat B. in Idaho; then comes a log cabin from Uta in Germany; the green and peach is from Linda in Palm Desert; then more of my alphabet/number quilts. The last is an alphabet quilt that I finished for a friend's new grandson in Anchorage.

Progress on Guatemala Bound
I know it's been a while since I posted anything about quilts for Guatemala. But folks have been steadily working away. Here are some of the recently completed quilts. The Amish-style quilt above was contributed by Mary Arnold. She and some folks from the Loose Threads Vancouver group pieced the quilt. I did the freehand quilting design using three different sizes of leaves. This will make a child happy!
Chris R. of Vancouver donated some log cabin quilt blocks for the quilt below. I made additional blocks to make the top sufficient size.
The log cabin quilt above, Italian Courtyard, was pieced by Pat of Anchorage. I made some of the blocks in the quilt below many years ago. Pat put them together to make a cute crib quilt, Sundial.
I was inspired by friend Sally Seller's Pi Project, and became obsessed with applique letters and numbers. I first made a quilt for my new granddaughter, Zara.
But then I couldn't stop. I've become obsessed with all the possibilities when combining letters and numbers. So here are some of the quilts I've made for Mayan Families. Below are Addition, Pi No. 2, Small Letters, Multiplication, and Alphabet Mixer.
And finally, here's a quilt that Pat S. and I put together for Zara.

Caverns art exhibit on display at PDX
Bonnie Bucknam’s fiber art exhibit “Caverns” is now on display at Portland International Airport.
The Vancouver, Wash. artist’s work demonstrates the way layering can make materials more interesting, whether those materials are the silks and cottons of quilting, or the sandstone and basalt of the Pacific Northwest. The exhibit runs through Dec. 18 on Concourse D.
Having sewn since childhood, Bucknam’s interests in geological forms naturally found artistic expression through fiber arts. In addition to exhibiting internationally, Bucknam’s work is found in the permanent collections of the Tuch + Technik Textile Museum in Neumünster, Germany; the Patchwork Design Collection in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and the State of Alaska Art Bank.
Bucknam’s abstract compositions are inspired by the colors and shapes of the natural world. After receiving a degree in anthropology and geology from California State University, she worked as an archaeologist and warehouseman building the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. She spent 31 years in Alaska before moving to Vancouver. More information about Bucknam and her work is available at www.handwerktextiles.com.
PDX’s art program illustrates the dynamic culture of the Pacific Northwest by showcasing a variety of works through ongoing relationships with regional artists and art organizations.

Solo Show at PDX
There is a New Year display of four of my quilts in Concourse D at the Portland International Airport. They just went up last night, so signage is not complete. But be sure to look UP as you enter the Concourse. The quilts are above your head, just before gate D2. The quilts will be on display all of 2015. I will post photos of the completed installation as soon as I can.
