Here are a couple of Thai textiles that I bought in Chaing Rai. I call these quilts. They are pieced together from many bits of worn clothing. I don't know if they have a function in Thailand, or if they are just made to sell to tourists. The detail in the pieces is amazing. They contain very fine embroidery, cross-stitch, and embellishment with beads and buttons.
On some pieces you can see where the buttons and beads have been removed to recycle.
This piece has some beautiful embellishments left intact.
