More Thai Textiles

Here are a couple of Thai textiles that I bought in Chaing Rai.  I call these quilts.  They are pieced together from many bits of worn clothing.  I don't know if they have a function in Thailand, or if they are just made to sell to tourists.  The detail in the pieces is amazing.  They contain very fine embroidery, cross-stitch, and embellishment with beads and buttons.

On some pieces you can see where the buttons and beads have been removed to recycle.

This piece has some beautiful embellishments left intact.

  1. Hi Bonnie,

There are very nice! They look genuine. They are handmade and worn by the Akha minority people. If you are interested to learn a bit more about this people, we posted an article on our blog last year called "The art of looking Akha." I paste a link below:

    Take care!
